The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for the thorough cleaning of assigned areas within the facility. This includes tasks such as cleaning furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, and showers. The role also involves high and low dusting, mopping floors, cleaning elevators and stairs, door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuuming carpets. Adherence to organizational policies, infection prevention standards, and proper chemical usage for different pathogens is crucial. The technician will maintain EVS closets, carts, and equipment, report safety hazards, manage supply levels, and replenish paper, soap, and hand sanitizer. Special projects may include coordinating with affected departments for upcoming work like construction, wall cleaning, or window washing, and posting informational signs. The role requires moving furniture, supplies, and equipment safely, properly mixing and storing chemicals, using personal protective equipment, and following safety procedures for wet floor signs. Making beds according to specific area needs and utilizing bed tracking systems are also part of the responsibilities. The technician must respond promptly to pager calls and ensure dismissal rooms are ready for new patients. Use of the Xenex UV Light robot may be required in specified rooms. Proper handling, transport, and disposal of various waste types, including hazardous and infectious waste, are essential. DOT Certification is required for packaging and transporting regulated medical waste. The position requires adherence to all applicable regulations and standards.
