About The Position

Responsible for total sanitation, floor care, preparation and organization of patient rooms, floors, bed set-ups, and ancillary areas. This is a Full-Time position working 40 hours per week on the day shift.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cleaning experience helpful.
  • Effectively performs scheduled floor cleaning which includes stripping, scrubbing, finishing, shampooing, and extracting in a timely manner (includes working other shifts for annual floor maintenance) following all unit specific guidelines giving attention to detailed areas such as baseboards, corners, carpet stains, etc.
  • Operates, understands, and maintains all equipment (i.e. extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
  • Reads directions carefully and asks supervisor when in doubt.
  • Uses wet floor signs, etc. to block off work area.
  • Moves furniture, supplies and equipment as requested adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures.
  • Seeks assistance when in doubt.
  • Responsible for properly mixing and storing chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio.
  • Uses proper personal protective equipment including safety goggles when needed.
  • Is knowledgeable and can identify various bed types.
  • Responds to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes.
  • Reports phone/pager problems to supervisor.
  • Logs out of EPIC.
  • Adheres to all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Adheres to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types, including but not limited to: hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, universal.
  • Complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
  • Asks supervisor or lead when in doubt.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough cleaning of assigned areas including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc.
  • High and low dusting of TVs, lights, walls, mop floors, elevators and stairs, clean door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuum carpet, etc.
  • Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Observation of all isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards.
  • Knowledge of correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
  • Maintenance of EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Reporting of any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
  • Maintenance of correct amount of supplies.
  • Replenishment of paper, soap supplies, and hand sanitizer.
  • Hanging cubicles/drapes according to department policy.
  • Special project assignments, including coordinating specifics such as contacting affected departments to advise of upcoming projects (e.g., construction projects, wall cleaning, drapes, changing cubicles, window washing, etc.), and posting informational signs.
  • Moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as requested adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures.
  • Seeking assistance when in doubt.
  • Properly mixing and storing chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio.
  • Using proper personal protective equipment including safety goggles when needed.
  • Reading directions carefully and asking supervisor when in doubt.
  • Using wet floor signs, etc., to block off work areas.
  • Making beds in accordance with specific area needs.
  • Knowledge and identification of various bed types.
  • Utilizing bed tracking phone/pager, placing bed in EPIC and removing when bed has been completed.
  • Responding to phone/pager calls from supervisor within 5 minutes.
  • Reporting phone/pager problems to supervisor.
  • Logging out of EPIC.
  • Ensuring dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient.
  • Using Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available.
  • Returning soiled and clean unused mops to the department and placing them in proper containers/areas.
  • Adherence to all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Proper handling, transport, and disposal of all waste types, including hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, and regular trash.
  • Completing DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
  • Asking supervisor or lead when in doubt.

  • Operating, understanding, and maintaining all equipment (e.g., extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensuring batteries are charged.
