About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician performs complete cleaning of assigned areas, handles cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, removes waste and soiled linen, maintains equipment, ensures a safe working environment, and attends required training. This role involves working indoors and potentially assisting with outdoor cleaning, including the use of ladders. The technician must maintain safe working conditions, comply with infection control guidelines, and meet departmental quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • One year experience preferred.
  • Prioritizes assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Works occasionally in extreme temperatures and around unpleasant smells.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, re-stocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers, and finishes. May assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof, and may use a ladder.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps job-associated equipment clean and orderly, and reports equipment failures or mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs, to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
