About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, re-stocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs. The role may involve indoor and outdoor cleaning, including the use of ladders. The position requires heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents. Waste removal includes collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash and sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste, recycling materials, and emptying cigarette receptacles. The technician must keep equipment clean and orderly, report equipment failures, and maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards. Attendance at all required in-service education and training classes is mandatory. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
• Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
• Removes waste by: Collecting and transporting soiled linen, Emptying trash containers, Changing sharps containers, Transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, Recycling material, Emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
• Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
• Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
• Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
