About The Position

This job cleans and services guest, patient, public, clinical, and administrative areas, maintaining a clean and aseptic environment. The role requires operating environmental services equipment and following instructions to complete daily tasks. The position is based in a patient-care healthcare setting, with potential exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste. Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be used when moving objects. The position is PRN and scheduled for evenings.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak or understand verbal communication in English to follow instructions and perform daily tasks.
• Experience operating environmental services equipment, including a dust mop, wet mop, bucket and wringer, spray bottles, and dustpan.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning, and cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed.
• Ability to listen, take direction, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of heavy work: exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Ability to work with and around acidic and alkaline chemicals, including but not limited to butyl ingredients.
• Ability to work in a patient-care area and tolerate routine occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, or hazardous waste.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas in a clean and aseptic manner.
• Maintain the Environmental Services closet and equipment in a clean, aseptic, and orderly manner.
• Assist with restocking the cafe and bar where necessary.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and room turnover.
• Follow current Joint Commission and CMS regulations pertaining to Environment of Care and cleaning requirements.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance.
• Immediately report known or suspected unethical or questionable conduct and patient or employee safety, privacy, or other compliance concerns.
