About The Position

This position is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for maintaining the hospital’s physical environment to a high standard of cleanliness, appearance, and infection control. The technician performs basic and advanced cleaning and supply-stocking duties in patient, staff, office, clinic, surgical, and visitor areas, and may work in areas requiring advanced techniques, including Surgery, Labor & Delivery, NICU, the Emergency Room, and floorcare. Interaction with visitors, patients, and staff may range from limited to frequent.

The technician uses chemicals, equipment, cleaning techniques, and infection-control methods safely and consistently to meet established quality standards. The role also requires safe handling and removal of hazardous, regulated, infectious, recyclable, and regular waste, as well as frequent computer use.

Requirements

• Grade school education with on-the-job training.
• Demonstrated proficiency in basic and advanced cleaning techniques and supply stocking.
• Knowledge and competence in safe chemical and equipment use, cleaning techniques, infection-control methods, and medical-waste handling.
• Competence using computers, with frequent computer use required.

Responsibilities
