About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. This role involves heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and various cleaning activities, including potential outdoor cleaning and the use of ladders. The technician will also be responsible for waste removal, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety and infection control guidelines. This is a full-time, second shift position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • One year experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Works occasionally in extreme temperatures and around unpleasant smells.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, re-stocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes. May assist with outdoor cleaning such as parking lot, windows, and roof, potentially using a ladder.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps job-associated equipment clean and orderly, and reports equipment failures or mechanical issues.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and quality service by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
