About The Position
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the hospital in accordance with infection control standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. This role plays a critical part in supporting patient care by reducing the risk of infection and ensuring a consistently high standard of cleanliness across all areas.
Requirements
- Prior housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred
- Healthcare experience a must
- Understanding of infection control practices and safety standards
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures with attention to detail
- Strong time management and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of resident and patient areas, including bedrooms, therapy rooms, and common spaces
- Clean and sanitize shared areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, lounges, and recreational spaces
- Collect, sort, and launder linens and personal items following strict hygiene and privacy protocols
- Replenish supplies including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and housekeeping essentials as needed
- Perform daily, discharge, and terminal cleaning in accordance with hospital and infection control standards
- Follow proper infection control procedures, including isolation room cleaning protocols
- Safely handle, segregate, and dispose of general waste and regulated materials as required
- Clean floors using appropriate methods (mopping, vacuuming, buffing, etc.)
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and equipment concerns to the appropriate department
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning needs, including spills and biohazard situations
- Collaborate with clinical and support staff to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for residents and patients
- Engage professionally and respectfully with residents, accommodating reasonable cleaning preferences when appropriate
