About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician performs cleaning duties in assigned areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. This role involves heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and the use of various cleaning equipment. The technician is responsible for waste removal, including soiled linen, trash, and hazardous waste, as well as maintaining equipment and adhering to safety and infection control guidelines. The position requires consistent ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • One year experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate equipment
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, re-stocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes. May assist with outdoor cleaning and use of ladders.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps job-associated equipment clean and orderly, and reports equipment failures or mechanical issues.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and quality service by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs.
