About The Position

As our Environmental Services Technician Lead, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized, protecting everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, using specialized equipment and techniques for sanitization, and adhering to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials. You will also refill dispensers, deliver linens, and contribute to the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff. This position requires leadership responsibilities, including leading the work of others, scheduling, coordinating shift change activities, and assigning work. It also involves maintaining a responsive relationship with others, demonstrating sensitivity, and keeping information confidential. The role requires the ability to cooperate with others and perform job responsibilities in the EVS Tech and EVS Tech Specialist classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting.
  • Use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility.
  • Learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects.
  • Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies.
  • Deliver clean linens.
  • Lead the work of others.
  • Schedule and coordinate shift change activities.
  • Assign work to others.
  • Clean floors.
  • Damp dust furniture and fixtures.
  • Make and clean patient beds.
  • Clean and empty ash urns and waste receptacles.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, vents and lights.
  • Change light bulbs.
  • Perform non-routine floor care duties (buffing, shampooing, etc.).
  • Inspect and replace curtains and cubicles.
  • Check and stock soap and paper supplies.
  • Haul out trash.
  • Move furniture.
  • Use various cleaning equipment, carts and products.
  • Follow infection control/prevention practices and safety practices in all activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with others.
  • Maintain as confidential information accidentally gained in the process of doing one’s own work.
