About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician II contributes to the effective operations of the Environmental Services department by daily cleaning and supplying of patient rooms, treatment rooms, restrooms, utility rooms, nurseries, nursing stations, lounges, offices, waiting areas, and other areas as assigned in accordance with standard policies and procedures. This role uses applicable cleaning equipment, products, and supplies in the performance of job responsibilities. The technician removes trash and linen from the facility and projects an image of professionalism in both verbal and non-verbal communication, appearance, and conduct. They maintain a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures, which may include the use of specialized equipment, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. The Environmental Services Technician II performs high-level, time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning tasks to maintain critical patient areas (e.g., discharges, isolation rooms, terminal cleaning of operative invasive areas, emergency department), and includes a variety of specialty floor care, carpet care tasks, and special projects (e.g., stripping/refinishing floors, extracting/terminal disinfecting carpet and upholstery, special projects). High-level time-sensitive tasks are assigned over 75% of daily shift time. The EVS Tech II may also contribute to the effective operation of Linen services as required, which can include daily distribution and stocking of clean linens throughout the hospital; ordering and maintaining inventory levels of clean linen; stocking exchange carts and bulk delivery carts; and transporting carts from the linen room to the hospital and back, as well as cleaning and maintaining linen rooms. The role also demonstrates outstanding customer service and "owns" successful patient/customer interactions while providing safe and high-quality cleaning standards, including recognizing, comprehending, and following the meaning of designated signs, symbols, and written instructions as trained.
