The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient rooms and assigned areas for Sanford Health patients, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role may involve cleaning various locations such as patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. Proper protective equipment must be worn, and storage areas kept stocked and tidy. Technicians may use pagers and other technology, and assist in laundry areas. Access to Sanford technology applications may be available depending on the location. Physical activities include extensive use of arms and legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits. The position requires being on feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours can vary based on patient needs, potentially including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
