The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including furniture, fixtures, floors, windows, and restrooms. This role involves adhering to all organizational policies, infection prevention standards, and proper chemical usage for different pathogens. The technician will maintain EVS supplies and equipment, report safety hazards, and assist with special projects such as coordinating departmental notifications for upcoming projects. They will also be responsible for moving furniture and equipment, mixing and storing chemicals safely, and using appropriate personal protective equipment. Additionally, the role includes making beds, utilizing tracking systems, responding to pages promptly, ensuring rooms are ready for new patients, and operating specialized equipment like the Xenex UV Light robot. Proper handling, transport, and disposal of various waste types, including hazardous and infectious waste, are critical. DOT certification for regulated medical waste transport is required.
