About The Position

Under direct supervision, maintain assigned areas within the medical center in a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition. The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate aids in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping. This includes performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Associates aid in the prevention of cross-contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions. They may assist with furniture moves, recycling, curtain replacement, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste.

Requirements

  • Previous cleaning experience in healthcare, school, or hospitality setting.
  • Experience operating floor equipment, sweepers, and commercial washers/dryers.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Capable of managing challenging or crisis situations.
  • Excellent customer service skills with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Familiarity with basic EVS equipment and cleaning protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment.
  • Aid in prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions.
  • Assist with furniture moves, recycling, curtain replacement, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste.
  • Sweep, mop, wax vinyl tile floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets, and scrub grout areas as required.
  • Report any floor issues that need more than routine cleaning, such as worn areas, for scheduling of deeper maintenance.
  • Complete floor care tasks/projects with walk-behind machines, side-by-side scrubbers, carpet extractors etc.
  • Manage, sort, clean, and distribute clean linens throughout the hospital and collect solid linens.
  • Perform inventory management by keeping records of linen levels.
