About The Position

The Environmental Service Worker focuses on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses. This role involves performing cleaning projects, supporting minor maintenance tasks, moves, and set ups. It also includes facilitating employee training and development, performing area inspections to evaluate quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and infection control standards. The position requires maintaining records, managing supply/equipment inventory, and assisting with cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and common areas. Cleaning duties may involve exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • +2 years environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and operating equipment after successful completion of 90 day training
  • Ability to clean and disinfect areas of blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens (ie..vomit, urine, etc..)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper handling and disposing of medical infectious waste and soiled linen
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact fairly and appropriately with people of all backgrounds
  • Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight.
  • Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning projects, providing support to coordinate and complete minor maintenance tasks, moves, and set ups
  • Facilitate employee training and development
  • Perform area inspections to evaluate and monitor quality performance, efficiency, customer satisfaction and infection control standards.
  • Maintain current area specific records, supply/equipment and inventory control.
  • Assist housekeeping and floor technicians with cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and all other common areas to patient, visitors, and staff, when needed; Cleaning requires exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
  • All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
