About The Position

Provides leadership, planning and day-to-day coordination for Environmental Services department and Linen Services. Maintains the standards of cleanliness and appearance as established by the facility and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience as a Supervisor over Environmental or Housekeeping Services (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in Environmental Services in a hospital setting (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including effective coaching, team building, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, supervise, and delegate for a facility requiring services 24 hours per day, seven days per week
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and the ability to learn new software
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates department day-to-day operations, staff and resources to ensure hospital standards of cleanliness, sanitation and appearance are met.
  • Responsible for hiring, orienting, staff development, education, and performance management.
  • Builds a cohesive team and promotes employee engagement.
  • Ensures department operates according to Intermountain policies / procedures and other regulatory agencies including Joint Commission and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Ensures department follows EVS system standard processes, guidelines, and supplies.
  • Monitors customer / patient satisfaction scores. Develops and implements plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Manages operating expenses for Environmental Services and Linen.
  • Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals.
  • Performs cleaning duties as needed based on staffing, patient loads, and time constraints.
  • May include responsibility for linen services.
  • May be asked to fill in for vacant manager positions as needed.
  • May be at a critical access hospital/care site or as part of the leadership team at a larger care site.
