About The Position

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and sanitation of a large facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and maintaining a positive patient experience. This role involves daily rounds, staff supervision, scheduling, inventory management, and implementing training programs, including those related to sustainability. The manager will also handle special event arrangements and personnel management, including performance evaluation and disciplinary actions. Utilization of software for facility management and patient flow monitoring is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and at least 3 years of Custodial Services/Housekeeping management experience in a health care setting, OR at least 4 years of Custodial Services/Housekeeping management experience in a health care setting in lieu of an Associate's degree.
  • Knowledge of operational software/quality programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in Custodial Service Operational Software Programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shift supervision and staffing assignments to ensure work is performed effectively and efficiently.
  • Plan and schedule staff assignments and cleaning services, reassigning staff as needed to ensure work is accomplished according to schedule and staff is fully utilized.
  • Inform and hold staff accountable for custodial and related policy and procedure, directives, and memorandum, including performance, overtime utilization, and time and attendance.
  • Supervise the custodial service inventory system, including requisitioning and distribution of proper cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Provide oral and written instructions to staff for requested special cleaning services, including the development of training programs to comply with sustainability directives.
  • Inspect and audit buildings and assigned areas for compliance with cleaning guidelines; investigate complaints of unsatisfactory cleaning performance and take corrective action.
  • Supervise the arrangement of premises for public meetings and special events by directing the movement and placement of seating and other equipment.
  • Perform full supervisory duties, including resolving personnel problems, evaluating work performance, taking appropriate disciplinary action, and maintaining time cards.
  • Oversee the supervision of new employees to ensure proper probationary competencies are met.
  • Utilize software programs to assign and maintain the facility in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
  • Utilize software programs to enhance patient flow monitoring and reduce response, clean, and turnaround time in patient rooms.
  • Round daily with unit personnel throughout the facility to evaluate and maintain cleanliness, conduct unit/room audits, and initiate corrective action.
  • Round daily throughout the facility to appraise the patient experience, conduct patient interviews, staff observations, and ensure scripting protocol and tent cards are practiced and in-use daily.
