About The Position

Xanitos is seeking an Environmental Services Manager for University of Michigan Health - Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. Reporting under the oversight of the Unit Director, the manager leads Environmental Services associates and serves as a liaison between hospital departments and Environmental Services to provide the highest possible level of service. The role includes staffing, scheduling, training, quality assurance, materials inventory, equipment oversight, and associate performance management. The position is identified as 1st shift, with flexibility to work varying shifts as needed. Healthcare employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a term and condition of employment, absent a legally required medical or religious exception. Employees must report vaccination status and upload proof through a secure online portal. Xanitos is a management company providing hospital housekeeping, patient transport, and central laundry services, and describes its focus as delivering top-quality service through its XRO patient-room cleaning system and operations management.

Requirements

Previous healthcare Environmental Services experience.
Floorcare experience.
Payroll experience.
Strong leadership skills and experience leading and managing a team.
Customer-service-minded approach and a strong service/quality attitude.
Strong communication skills.
Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed.
Proficiency with Windows-based office software.
High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

Participate in the staff selection process and interview candidates as needed.
Schedule days off, holidays, and vacations while ensuring account needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.
Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties.
Conduct quality assurance checks and manage materials inventory and general equipment use.
Ensure staff receive proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education.
Provide staff with individual guidance and motivation to support their performance.
Discipline associates when necessary in accordance with progressive disciplinary guidelines.
Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports, conduct follow-up investigations as needed, and report findings to the Department Director.
Prepare disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required.
Conduct disciplinary meetings with associates with guidance from the Department Director.
Maintain a sanitary, attractive, and orderly environment.
Demonstrate and promote Xanitos’ culture, values, and management philosophy.
Demonstrate quality leadership in meeting performance plans.
Serve as a liaison between hospital departments and Environmental Services.
