About The Position

The Environmental Services Director oversees the community’s day-to-day physical plant operations, including maintenance and housekeeping, to ensure the community and resident apartments are safe, clean, and comfortable. The role is responsible for cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and organization of the facility’s physical plant. As a department head, the Director coordinates with maintenance and housekeeping staff and directly oversees recruiting, hiring, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and performance monitoring.

Requirements

• High school diploma or greater.
• At least three years of supervisory experience in a maintenance plant-related position, the building industry, and/or housekeeping, handling upkeep, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, structural, and HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of maintenance and housekeeping practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in the community.
• Demonstrated competency in performing the duties and responsibilities of the role.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and supervise maintenance and housekeeping staff.
• Perform general maintenance work, including light electrical work, painting, and carpentry.
• Maintain awareness of federal and state laws and regulations governing assisted living and memory care, including state fire safety codes, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Routinely maintain and repair equipment and document hazardous conditions.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and report unusual problems or conditions to the Executive Director.
