About The Position

The Environmental Services Associate works as a member of the environmental services team to maintain a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing hospital environment while supporting the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and staff. The role performs cleaning and sanitizing in patient rooms and assigned areas with minimal interference to others. It is a PRN position working on an as-needed basis, with varied shifts to cover for PTO or sick time.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals, and to complete chemical identification stickers.

Nice To Haves

• Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
• Additional related education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing, according to departmental policies and procedures; plan daily task completion.
• Empty hampers and transport soiled linen.
• Empty trash containers and remove trash, including medical waste and sharps containers.
• Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas.
• Keep departmental equipment clean, use and protect it properly, log equipment in and out, and notify appropriate personnel when repairs are needed.
• Perform special projects as needed, such as washing windows or walls and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
• Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors and meet or exceed customer-service satisfaction goals.
• Work independently and as part of a team under regular supervision in an assigned facility or area.
