About The Position

The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and comfortable environment for residents. This position involves performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks to ensure the facility meets high standards of cleanliness and safety. The associate will model excellent customer service, adhere to the organization's mission and philosophy, and demonstrate problem-solving skills to manage tasks effectively. A key aspect of the role is ensuring resident safety by being aware of potential hazards and changes in resident behavior, and reporting them promptly. The associate will perform cleaning duties in resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, using appropriate techniques and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory requirements of the EVS department.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of or ability to quickly learn cleaning techniques and housekeeping equipment used by the facility.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of or ability to quickly learn standard procedures for cleaning and maintenance in a long-term care facility.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and needs.
  • Ability to use judgment to create a good workflow.
  • Ability to remain alert to resident safety.
  • Ability to report changes in resident behavior or dangerous situations immediately to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning, mopping, disinfecting, dusting, scouring, and polishing of various areas, including bath and toilet rooms.
  • Ensure all Environmental Services (housekeeping and laundry) duties are performed to the expected facility standard.
  • Model and demonstrate excellence in customer service with a constant focus on person-centered care.
  • Adhere to the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Perform work in an orderly, safe, and polite manner to ensure resident comfort.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and needs.

  • Remain alert to resident safety, including controlling carts, wet floors, and chemicals, and reporting changes in resident behavior or dangerous situations to nursing staff.
  • Carry out tasks with warmth and consideration for residents, their rooms, and their possessions.
  • Personally perform duties when indicated to ensure facility standards are met.
