This role is responsible for cleaning patient care areas, surgical areas, public/private restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, elevators, and stairwells. The assistant will clean all environmental surfaces including ceilings and vents, walls, doors, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, and windows. They will also assist in cleaning emergency spills as requested, dust and damp mop floors, replace cubicle and window coverings, and gather and dispose of recyclables, trash, and medical waste, including hazardous trash following established infection control guidelines. Additionally, the role involves sorting, stocking, and delivering linens, gathering and preparing soiled linen for transportation, cleaning and preparing dismissal and transfer units, and distributing non-medical supplies. The assistant will also fill and clean supply dispensers, inventory linens, cleaning supplies, and paper supplies, order additional supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner, and keep the housekeeping closet organized and clean. Finally, they are responsible for reporting any mechanical failures or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
