Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Environmental Services Assistant performs routine repairs and minor maintenance while delivering excellent customer service to residents. Requirements

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Strong ability to work independently and self-manage tasks
  • Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting and moving heavy objects
  • Experience with minor repairs to facilities and equipment
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical systems, plastering, and painting
  • Ability to manage and track budgets, including recording work completed and associated costs
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Must provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment
  • Complete painting, minor carpentry, and exterior grounds maintenance (excluding contracted services)
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to ensure maintenance and safety standards are met; report findings to the supervisor
  • Follow established facility policies and procedures, including safety protocols and safe work practices
  • Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while performing handyman responsibilities
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adult residents
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values, including ethics, integrity, and professionalism, as outlined in the Code of Conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned
