About The Position

Under the direction of the Environmental Services Supervisor, and as a member of a work team, this job performs project cleaning activities, and support activities in patient, clinical, public and administrative areas. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • None
  • Experience operating Environmental Service equipment. Equipment includes, Automatic Scrubber, Battery Burnisher, Electrical Burnisher, All Purpose Matador, and Carpet Extractor
  • Ability to lift between 35 and 100 pounds and push/pull carts weighing up to 500 pounds.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, and kneel continuously for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Capability to safely navigate busy hospital corridors and elevators with
  • Ability to read, write and speak / understand verbal communication in English in order to follow instructions and perform daily tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning and cleaning equipment/supplies.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule when needed.
  • Ability to listen and take direction and complete job tasks with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Health care or hotel experience

Responsibilities

  • Waste Segregation: Knowledge of how to distinguish between regular trash, recyclables, biohazardous waste (red bags), sharps (needles) and linen.
  • Exhibits effective judgment and decision making.
  • The skills to assist with cleaning projects and to work as a team.
  • Assumes responsibility for attendance/punctuality and personal appearance.
  • Ability to safely operate trash compactors, balers, and floor cleaning machinery.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
