About The Position

Maintains a clean, attractive, and safe environment in assigned facility areas. Duties include cleaning, transporting items, handling equipment, setting up rooms, removing trash, handling linen, and maintaining patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other areas. Distributes supplies to departments and maintains stock levels. Works effectively with peers and supervisors through clear communication and competent performance, and follows applicable regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to support sanitization and safety.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
For the Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center department: valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
Knowledge of sterile-environment maintenance, proper cleaning procedures, and various equipment.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions.
Written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
Time-management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines within standardized policies and procedures.
Ability to operate basic environmental service equipment, including mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers, and dryers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks amid interruptions, and build collaborative relationships.

Responsibilities

Clean patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned facility areas.
Perform transport, equipment-handling, room-setup, trash-removal, and linen-handling duties.
Distribute supplies to departments and maintain stock levels.
Follow local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures related to sanitization and safety.
Communicate effectively and cooperate with peers, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
Prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team, including in an environment with interruptions.
Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options.
