About The Position

The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for executing daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. This role involves interaction with patients, visitors, and staff, and ensuring timely room turnovers while adhering to environmental hygiene and infection prevention principles. The technician is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience, maintaining a clean, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing environment in a healthcare setting. Success in this role requires proficiency in cleaning and infection control protocols, prioritizing safety and waste management, consistently following guidelines, maintaining a strong work ethic, accountability, and effective communication.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Completing, as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
  • Performing duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
  • Displaying safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.
  • Maintaining cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart setup.
  • Removing waste and transporting to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Following all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
