About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a 198-bed non-profit facility providing healthcare to the communities in and around Gilbert, Arizona. They are committed to social justice, health equity, and delivering care in innovative ways. The facility fosters a collaborative and supportive environment where employees can make a tangible difference. A new Women's and Children's Pavilion is coming soon. As an Environmental Service Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. This role involves interaction with patients, visitors, and staff, and ensuring timely room turnovers with a focus on infection prevention. You will be an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment.
  • Ensuring timely room turnovers related to patient throughout within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic and aesthetically pleasing environment in a healthcare setting.
  • Completing, as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
  • Displaying safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.
  • Maintaining cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up.
  • Removing waste and transporting to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Following all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
