About The Position

The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for daily cleaning and disinfection duties that maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing healthcare environment. The role involves interacting with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff, and ensuring timely patient-room turnovers while following environmental hygiene and infection-prevention principles. The technician contributes to quality, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience in accordance with organizational standards.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned daily occupied-room and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient-care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Apply healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, using chemicals and equipment safely.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment according to the Standard Work cart setup.
• Remove and transport waste to the appropriate disposal area, identifying and handling regulated medical, recyclable, solid, and hazardous waste according to procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follow infection-prevention practices, including cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment.
