About The Position

As an Environmental Service Specialty Tech, you will provide basic and specialized cleaning services throughout the hospital. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and cleaning hard and soft flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces, using heavy mechanical equipment. You will also work in Specialty Units to ensure a safe care environment for patients, staff, and visitors by applying cleaning, disinfecting, and quality assurance principles to reduce harmful pathogens. Additional responsibilities may include tasks typically performed by an Environmental Services Tech I, such as floor care, stripping and waxing, project work, conference room setup/dismantling, cleaning stairwells and elevators, and hanging cubicle curtains. You will be responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of specialty units and equipment in areas such as Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health, and the Burn Unit. You will perform these duties with a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, proper chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Floor care experience
• Previous healthcare experience

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialized cleaning services throughout the hospital.
• Maintain and clean hard and soft flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces, using heavy mechanical equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, polishers, extractors, and wet vacuuming equipment.
• Work in Specialty Units (surgical services/perioperative suite, cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) providing a safe care environment by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfecting, and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens.
• Perform all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting, stripping and waxing floor surfaces.
• Perform project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs, such as conference room set up/dismantle, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
• Clean and disinfect specialty units & equipment in areas including, but not limited to, Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing.
