Environmental Service Professional I- Full Time/Night Shift (10pm-6:30am)
About The Position
Environmental Services is a front-line infection prevention function. The Environmental Service Professional performs services in accordance with organizational policies and procedures to provide a safe environment, applying cleaning, disinfection, and quality-assurance principles to reduce harmful pathogens for patients, visitors, and staff. The role is trained to independently and competently perform general cleans and dismissal cleans. The position includes cleaning and disinfecting assigned areas, preparing patient rooms for new admissions, maintaining cleaning carts and equipment, removing waste and soiled linen, replacing sharps containers, and transporting furniture, equipment, clean linen, and supplies. The employee must follow departmental, hospital, and regulatory guidelines and use required protective equipment as appropriate.
Requirements
- Must follow department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Must wear gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat as the situation warrants and as defined by the Safety Standard Act.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six months of hospital environmental services or housekeeping experience.
Responsibilities
- Disinfect and clean assigned areas according to Environmental Services procedures designed to control microorganism growth.
- Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by staging them in an aesthetically pleasing way.
- Keep Environmental Services carts, supplies, and equipment neat, orderly, and properly stocked and restocked.
- Remove trash, recycling, confidential information, and soiled linen from floors using a utility cart.
- Replace sharps containers in patient rooms, procedure rooms, and soiled utility rooms.
- Transport furniture, equipment, clean linen, and supplies.
- Operate and properly maintain the tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
- Follow department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment as the situation warrants.
