About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Environmental Service Associate maintains an assigned area of the hospital in a sanitary and orderly condition, following departmental and regulatory agency policies, procedures, and standards. The role includes routine housekeeping and discharge-room cleaning, preparing cleaning solutions, inspecting completed work, and maintaining cleaning equipment. The position is listed with a 6:00 AM–2:30 PM schedule.

Knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.
Competency in care delivery and ability to apply knowledge to meet age-specific needs when applicable.

Responsibilities

Assemble necessary cleaning supplies and equipment, load the utility cart, and transport it to work areas after receiving instructions about the area and assignment.
Clean assigned areas through housekeeping duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, and polishing.
Inspect areas after cleaning to ensure appropriate cleanliness levels have been achieved.
Prepare cleaning solutions according to written label instructions.
Perform routine discharge-room cleaning within established guidelines, protocols, and time frames.
Remove soiled linen from discharge rooms and remake beds with fresh linen in the prescribed manner.
Notify the team leader of needed maintenance repairs in the assigned area.
Clean and regularly store equipment in the porter closet or assigned storage area.
Log on and off Interserv and log tasks on Interserv according to GBMC policy.
Apply knowledge of patient and workforce safety to job duties.
Demonstrate competency in care delivery and apply knowledge to meet age-specific needs when applicable.
Work effectively as a team member and courteously exchange information with patients, visitors, and staff while performing housekeeping tasks.
