About The Position

This position requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to understand and follow instructions. The role also demands the capacity to perform the physical requirements of the job. For positions in the In-Patient Psych Unit, Crisis Prevention Intervention Training must be completed within 3 months of starting. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, be pleasant, cooperative, committed to teamwork, and maintain a professional demeanor with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas according to operating procedures, preparing patient rooms, maintaining equipment and closets, and performing specialized cleaning tasks. The role also involves trash and waste removal, safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and proper use of housekeeping equipment. Adherence to safety regulations and participation in educational programs are essential. Other work-related duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans/Terminal Cleans/Sanitize assigned areas in accordance with operating procedures using proper equipment, chemicals and supplies.
  • Prepares patient rooms for occupancy, per operating procedures and inputs into approved room ready notification system.
  • Maintains all equipment/closets used to perform job in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Clean all equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Performs specialized cleaning procedures in accordance with operating procedures. e.g. CCU procedure room, nurseries, isolation rooms.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of environment, cleaning kitchen area, med rooms, employee bathrooms, janitor closet, refrigerators, microwave, etc., all clinical equipment on unit, wheelchairs, stretchers, scales, bedside tables, IV poles etc,.
  • Reports problems with equipment to the charge nurse.
  • Set up meetings and functions/supply appropriate A/V equipment.
  • Spray buffs or high-speed burnishes tile floors.
  • Spot cleans carpets; buffs carpets in corridors and rooms; moves cleaning equipment, supplies within or between hospital buildings; moves furniture as requested.
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision.
  • Removes general trash, medical waste soiled/used linen, from work area and place in specified bags and/or containers.
  • Transport to assigned disposal area.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals and solutions per product labeling and departmental procedures.
  • Utilizes housekeeping equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as per training, signage and product labels.
  • Adheres to safety regulations as per departmental training (e.g. wet floor signs, caution tape, electrical cords laid along wall).
  • Participates in in-service educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Performs other work related duties as requested/directed.
