About The Position

WSP's RPM team is seeking an Environmental Scientist with 3-6 years of experience to join their dynamic, growing, multi-disciplinary team. This position is part of the Remediation Program Management (RPM) team, which has offices across Canada and specializes in contaminated site program management, including health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation. The team has a consistent backlog of 9-12 months and offers growth opportunities. The role involves collaborating with brilliant minds on high-profile projects, managing fieldwork efficiently, and contributing to complex environmental challenges. The successful candidate will apply and expand their technical, client delivery, and project delivery skills within a Canadian-based firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 to 6 years experience in the environmental industry.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate activities.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policy at all times as well as client HSE policies when working at client locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Health and safety training related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Enjoys the outdoors and understands office work is also part of the job (up to 50%).
  • Willing to be paid to see and explore different parts of Western and Northern Canada.
  • Experience volunteering or being chosen as a leader for class projects.
  • Interest in soil texture analysis (though not practically applied due to contamination risks).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with brilliant minds and contribute to high-profile projects.
  • Manage a large amount of field work efficiently and effectively.
  • Apply and expand technical, client delivery, and project delivery skills.
  • Design a place where people, friends, families and neighbours can thrive.
  • Clearly identify and understand project objectives.
  • Bring ideas and solutions to project manager, project directors, mentors.
  • Develop well understood specific work instructions and health and safety plans.
  • Support the development and improvement of project health and safety plans, guided by the Zero Harm policy and rigorous Health, Safety and Environment standards.
  • Participate and be a member of a 10-20 person client-specific delivery team.
  • Leverage the experience and expertise of the entire RPM group.
  • Engage with a Practice Area Network (PAN) to solve complex technical issues.
  • Complete fieldwork assignments centered around the Alberta foothills, and at locations within Western/Northern Canada (up to 50%).
  • Plan, lead or work on interesting and technically challenging environmental projects in Western and Northern Canada.
