About The Position

Apex Companies is a fast-growing engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking a dynamic Environmental Field Scientist to join their Northeast Division. The role is based in Glastonbury, CT or Providence, RI. The position offers career development, training, and mentoring within a diverse team working on civil, environmental, water resources, and traffic/transportation projects in a fast-paced and rewarding work environment.

Requirements

BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
Valid driver’s license with a good driving history and reliable transportation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other widely used computer programs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent technical communication skills with strong attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and maintaining an excellent safety record
Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced environments and manage workloads efficiently

Nice To Haves

2+ years of experience in a similar environmental or field‑based role
Connecticut Remediation Standard Regulations (RSRs) experience
Connecticut or Massachusetts stormwater sampling and reporting experience
40‑hour HAZWOPER certification

Responsibilities

Collect field samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and drinking water.
Provide oversight of site investigation and characterization, as well as contaminated site remediation.
Collect stormwater samples from municipal and private facilities in CT.
Prepare field notes, photographs, and perform analysis and interpretation of field and analytical data.
Prepare technical reports and conduct ASTM Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.
Support emergency response services, communicate and collaborate with others, manage workloads and records, implement health & safety policies, and travel to different project sites.
