Environmental Scientists
About The Position
BFW/Marcum is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to perform Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments and support permitting and compliance work across our Paducah and St. Louis offices. This is a high-impact technical role where you'll independently perform complex environmental assessments and investigations, build client relationships, and establish yourself as a trusted technical resource in environmental due diligence, permitting, and regulatory compliance. If you are an accomplished environmental consulting professional with 5-10 years of Phase I/II experience, a strong understanding of federal and state regulations, and a passion for solving environmental challenges that move projects forward, we want to hear from you.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Natural Resources, or related field
- 5-10 years of environmental consulting or related professional experience
- Experience conducting Phase I ESAs and Phase II environmental investigations
- Working knowledge of environmental sampling, technical reporting, and applicable federal and state environmental regulations
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across Kentucky and Missouri
Nice To Haves
- Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance processes preferred
- NEPA experience (preparation or support of environmental review documentation) – preferred
Responsibilities
- Independently conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards and conduct Phase II investigations from planning through reporting.
- Perform soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling; analyze results to assess environmental conditions and develop recommendations that inform project decisions.
- Research applicable environmental requirements; prepare permit applications and compliance documentation; and support agency coordination, audits, and inspections. Experience may include NEPA, 404/401, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, and SWPPPs.
- Prepare environmental reports, agency correspondence, and technical deliverables for clients, regulators, and project teams.
- Review project plans for environmental requirements, perform QA/QC of technical deliverables, and support Project Managers with scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
