This position is responsible for various environmental investigation, permitting, and impact analyses projects, and support for ecological restoration projects, applying knowledge of ecological and environmental practices and regulations. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ecological and environmental practices and regulations
  • Ability to conduct research of designated environmental resources including wetlands, streams, soils, plants, and wildlife
  • Ability to collect data and field samples during field investigations
  • Ability to analyze and manage data received from field investigations
  • Ability to determine the location, size, condition, and impacts to designated environmental resources
  • Ability to document methodologies and findings of research and field investigations
  • Ability to assist with geomorphic surveys and design efforts in support of ecological restoration projects
  • Ability to assist in species-specific surveys in a variety of terrestrial and aquatic habitats under the supervision of permitted biologists
  • Ability to assist with wetland and stream functional and conditional assessments using USACE-approved methods
  • Ability to participate in environmental compliance surveys and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Ability to write natural environmental technical reports, field delineation reports, impact assessments, environmental inspection reports, and similar reports with supervisory input and oversight
  • Ability to assist and/or manage with supervisory oversight various state, federal, and local regulatory permit application processes
  • Ability to assist in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s
  • Ability to participate in field investigations of cultural resources
  • Ability to participate in preparation of public involvement materials and attend public meetings
  • Ability to support preparation of NEPA documents, including writing environmental setting and impact analyses sections
  • Ability to perform other related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research of designated environmental resources including wetlands, streams, soils, plants, and wildlife
  • Collects data and field samples during field investigations
  • Analyzes and manages data received from field investigations; determines the location, size, condition, and impacts to designated environmental resources
  • Documents methodologies and findings of research and field investigations
  • Assists with geomorphic surveys and design efforts in support of ecological restoration projects
  • Assists in species-specific surveys in a variety of terrestrial and aquatic habitats (freshwater mussels, avifauna, herps, reptiles, fish, invertebrates, ect.) under the supervision of permitted biologists
  • Assists with wetland and stream functional and conditional assessments using USACE-approved methods (Level I and II Stream Condition Assessments, iHGM, TxRAM, ect.)
  • Participates in environmental compliance surveys (e.g., stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control procedures, design/build projects, etc.) and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Writes natural environmental technical reports, field delineation reports, impact assessments, environmental inspection reports, and similar reports with supervisory input and oversight
  • Assists and/or manages with supervisory oversight various state, federal, and local regulatory permit application processes, such as Clean Water Act Section 404/401, Endangered Species Act Section 7 & 10 Consultation, NPDES, Texas General Land Office Submerged Lands, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s
  • Participates in field investigations of cultural resources
  • Participates in preparation of public involvement materials and attends public meetings
  • Supports preparation of NEPA documents, including writing environmental setting and impact analyses sections
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
