About The Position

The Environmental Scientist Intern supports inspections and sampling of suspected contamination at client facilities nationwide. The intern assists project managers and environmental scientists with data and database quality reviews, including analyzing technical reports, collecting information from reports, and entering data into a database. Prior sampling experience is not required. The 2027 internship is a paid, 12-week opportunity. Work is approximately 40 hours per week, depending on workload and school schedule, based at the Sacramento, California office and surrounding project sites. The role involves travel to project sites and direct interaction with clients at client locations.

Requirements

Be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in environmental science, environmental studies, or a related field.
Be within two years of graduation (rising junior or rising senior).
Be self-motivated and have strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Be willing to travel to project sites as needed.
Pass HAZWOPER training, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Perform sampling at client locations nationwide.
Collect samples for submission to laboratories.
Complete chain-of-custody documentation.
Create inspection reports describing inspection activities and sample results.
Prepare draft technical reports.
Interact directly with clients at client sites.
Review environmental technical reports, summarize report data, and update a database.
Assist project managers and environmental scientists with data and database quality reviews.
