Requirements

  • Hold and maintain a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license.
  • Knowledge in using ArcGIS Pro, Sitescan, and other geographic and imagery software.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Communicating with different audiences.
  • Must maintain a driver's license
  • Frequent communication in person or by other means
  • Some travel required
  • Field work may require standing, stooping, bending, lifting and walking on uneven terrain at times.
  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
  • Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Licensed FAA Part 107 Remote pilot responsible for flying missions for DOW.
  • Plan and executes drone missions including airspace determinations, weather conditions, and crew management.
  • Develop aerial imagery using small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) on a statewide basis and develop georeferenced images for computer models for projects.
  • Prepare reports and technical documents.
  • Research equipment and techniques for acquiring necessary data to develop maps and other GIS-related products for the Division of Water and other EEC programs.
