By joining the Division for Air Quality, Program Planning and Administration Branch, Evaluation Section as an Environmental Scientist I in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to work on state implementation plans, attainment, and maintenance of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) in Kentucky.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
  • Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Review federal NAAQS updates.
  • Draft revisions to the state implementation plan.
  • Research applicable Clean Air Act EPA guidance documents for NAAQS implementation.
  • Conduct public hearings and comment periods.
  • Create documents conforming to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) laws.
  • Calculate design values for NAAQS determinations.
