About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join their team in San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA. This position involves both field and office work, with an expectation of 50% to 75% of time spent in the field. The role offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within a dedicated team. Candidates are considered for immediate start and Summer 2027 start dates. As part of the Resilience Environment team, the role contributes to improving quality of life by delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
  • Conducting groundwater sampling.
  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • Operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Performing vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
  • Conducting fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
  • Preparing subcontracts and overseeing the work of subcontractors.
  • Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.
  • Conducting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling.
  • Supporting National emergency response teams to ensure rapid protection of human health and the environment.
  • Working under the direction of trained incident responders.
  • Supporting client needs during unforeseen incidents such as train derailments or pipeline releases.
