About The Position

Terraphase Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Scientist, Engineer, or Geologist to join our Due Diligence team. This is a full-time, junior-level opportunity, ideal for a recent graduate or a candidate with three to five years of relevant experience. The primary focus of this role is the preparation of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports. As a member of our growing team, you will support Phase I and Phase II ESA projects across a wide range of geographic regions. Terraphase has established operations in multiple locations, and we are actively expanding our capacity to serve clients nationwide. You will work in collaboration with team members across various offices and partner closely with senior staff and project managers to ensure high-quality, consistent deliverables. This role offers a strong training environment, exposure to diverse project work, and clear opportunities for professional growth within the environmental consulting field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Geology, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Willingness to travel within surrounding areas for fieldwork
  • Ability to interact with clients and regulatory managers
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret environmental records, regulatory databases, and historical land use documents
  • Strong interest in environmental consulting, with a desire to develop technical writing and field investigation skills
  • Understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
  • Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, including HAZWOPER 40-hour certification

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ASTM E1527-21 and E2600-22 standards and environmental due diligence practices
  • Prior experience assisting with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and NJ Preliminary Assessments
  • Familiarity with basic field sampling techniques for soil, groundwater, and vapor in PA and NJ
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow field procedures and protocols
  • Familiarity with field instruments (e.g., PID, XRF, water level meters) and environmental sampling methods (e.g., low-flow, grab sampling)
  • Basic understanding of laboratory data review, data quality assessment, and preparation of analytical summary tables

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and interviews as part of Phase I and Phase II ESA preparation
  • Research and review environmental records, historical sources, and regulatory databases
  • Prepare technical reports with clear documentation of findings and conclusions
  • Assist with document review and formatting in compliance with ASTM standards
  • Coordinate with project managers to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality work
