About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Professional (Engineer, Scientist or Geologist) to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. While this position requires both field and office work, the candidate should expect to spend 80% to 90% of their time in the field. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you’ll help improve quality of life. As part of this role, you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Fieldwork will also be a key aspect of this position, which will offer you an opportunity to be trained to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, construction and operation and maintenance of remediation systems, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, among other tasks. It is essential to conduct fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.

Requirements

BA or BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated
Independent thinking
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely
Adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member
Good driving record
Willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods
Able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, etc.

Nice To Haves

Experience with NCDEQ environmental regulations and SOPs
Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience
1 year experience in the field is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda
Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.
Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field in accordance with North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Field work will require regional business travel for up to 4-5 days per week on average.
Several times per year, travel may be required within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time.
Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
Oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, construction and operation and maintenance of remediation systems, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, among other tasks.
