About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 to join their team. This role involves assisting Project Managers and Task Managers in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. A significant part of the role includes fieldwork, where the individual will be trained to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, construction and operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys. A strong focus on health and safety during fieldwork is essential. The position also involves office work such as task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts. Fieldwork will require regional business travel for up to 4-5 days per week on average, with occasional travel within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time. Candidates must have a good driving record, be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods, and be able to meet the physical demands of fieldwork, including lifting heavy equipment and working in a standing position for extended periods. Fieldwork may be performed at project sites with impacted environmental media.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kentucky DEP environmental regulations and SOPs
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
  • Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience
  • 1 year experience in the field is preferred but not required

Responsibilities
