About The Position

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 to join their Pacific Northwest team, supporting the Coastal 29 – Bundle 5 fish passage restoration project near Moclips, Washington. This role involves serving as a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL), working with construction crews to ensure environmental compliance and restore fish access to critical habitat. This is a hands-on, outdoor position with opportunities for career growth within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-5 years of experience.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on fieldwork.
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather, on uneven terrain, and around active construction.
  • Willingness to do in-water work and support fish exclusion efforts (roughly July-September).
  • Occasional 12+ hour days, nights, and weekend shifts.
  • A safety-first mindset, along with punctuality, self-motivation, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to collect precise field data using a variety of equipment.
  • Ability to build clear reports, figures, and tables in MS Excel, Bluebeam, and GIS.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Ability to be onsite near Moclips, WA every weekday (plus occasional weekends), July-November 2026 and May-November 2027.
  • Temporary or permanent residence within commuting distance for these periods.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor stormwater controls as the CESCL.
  • Conduct site inspections.
  • Maintain TESC sheets.
  • Complete daily inspection reports.
  • Support ecological fieldwork and environmental planning activities, such as vegetation and tree surveys, wetland delineations, fish exclusion and identification.
  • Review construction plans and specifications.
  • Assist with technical reports and project plans.
