About The Position

The Environmental Sampling Technician collects groundwater, wastewater, and other samples for analytical testing. This role involves performing field analysis, collecting samples from various sites, preparing and calibrating test equipment, and troubleshooting system failures. The technician will also be responsible for quality control, documentation, contacting clients to schedule projects, reviewing sampling plans, organizing equipment, and assisting clients with questions regarding sample collection and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role includes operating pumping and sampling equipment, performing maintenance and repair of equipment, and assisting in the preparation of pricing quotes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in a scientific discipline) or equivalent job experience
  • OSHA 10 (can be obtained)
  • Confined Space Training (can be obtained)
  • HAZWOPPER 24hrs (can be obtained)
  • NE WATER WELL MONITORING TECHNICIAN LICENSE (can be obtained)
  • Valid Driver’s License (clean record required)
  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Ability to work in harsh climates
  • Analyst Level 2 experience
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate large equipment, carry heavy objects for long distances, and walk in variable terrain
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the phone and in group setting
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time as necessary in the field (6 or more hours)
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds minimum
  • Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time (2 or more hours)
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (2 or more hours)
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgement and decisions
  • Willing and able to work outside in all climates or conditions

Responsibilities

  • Perform field analysis per sampling plan (DO, ORP, Conductivity, Ph, Flow, Turbidity, Temp)
  • Perform groundwater, wastewater and drinking water sampling across various job sites, monitoring wells, and various municipal locations
  • Perform regular inspections, preparations, calibrations, and deployment of test equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system failures
  • Calibrate and maintenance required field instruments
  • Perform quality control and documentation of chemicals
  • Contacts clients to schedule sampling projects
  • Reviews sampling plans and permits to ensure sampling plans meet the expected compliance regulations and deadlines
  • Organizes sampling equipment, submittal forms, and bottle order sets for scheduled projects
  • Collects groundwater samples from monitoring wells
  • Collects wastewater samples from industry and municipal sources
  • Records calibration and sampling data collected during projects
  • Assist clients with questions regarding sample collection and regulatory requirements
  • Operates various pumping and sampling equipment
  • Performs or schedules all cleaning, maintenance, and repair of equipment used for sampling
  • Assists in the preparation of pricing quotes for bids on sampling projects
  • Provides monthly dollar report of sampling services performed
  • Accurately document sample collection and data on chain of custody forms
  • Maintain and schedule client sampling events based on assigned project work
