About The Position

Join GHD as an Environmental Human Health / Ecological Risk Assessor to lead and perform human health and ecological risk assessments under various North American and international regulatory frameworks, addressing both traditional and emerging contaminants like PFAS. You will also contribute to Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDAs), develop work plans, and oversee field investigations supporting ERA, HHRA, and NRDA efforts. Your expertise will be crucial for emergency response initiatives related to chemical fate, transport, and toxicology. This role involves collaboration across GHD’s global network, direct engagement with clients and regulatory agencies, representation in technical and trade organizations, and mentoring junior professionals. GHD's Risk Assessors work on projects that apply risk assessment and management strategies to support contaminated site decision-making under Federal, state, and international site cleanup programs, including identifying and controlling potentially unacceptable human and ecological exposures to chemicals in the environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Biology, Ecology, Ecotoxicology, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related technical field
  • 7-12 years of experience with Ecological and Human Health Risk Assessment and/or Natural Resource Damage Assessment
  • Excellent quantitative skill and experience in data analysis, biostatistics, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to tell the story of the assessment
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America
  • Experience working directly with industrial clients

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform human health and ecological risk assessments under a variety of North American and international regulatory frameworks, addressing both traditional and emerging contaminants like PFAS.
  • Contribute to Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDAs).
  • Develop work plans and oversee field investigations that support ERA, HHRA, and NRDA efforts.
  • Support emergency response initiatives related to chemical fate, transport, and toxicology.
  • Collaborate across GHD’s global network.
  • Engage directly with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Represent the team in technical and trade organizations.
  • Mentor and coach young professionals and colleagues.
  • Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
  • Gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
  • Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions.
  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
