About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking an Environmental Quality Assurance Manager in Mayport, FL. This role is contingent upon receipt of DBIDs and focuses on managing environmental data and ensuring all technical work complies with industry regulations. The position involves overseeing environmental reporting, data collection, emissions tracking, waste management, and discharge monitoring, as well as corrosion control quality assurance including technical inspections, Navy standard compliance, failure analysis, and testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least 3 years in a maritime or industrial corrosion control environment, specifically supporting U.S. Navy or Coast Guard contracts.
  • Proficiency in environmental data management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data modeling and reporting.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
  • Must have a REAL ID.
  • Must be able to acquire DBIDS access to Naval Bases.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data regarding Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) generated during coating operations.
  • Oversee the documentation and disposal of hazardous materials, including spent abrasive grit and paint waste, ensuring adherence to RCRA and state-specific guidelines.
  • Monitor and report on potential point-source discharges into navigable waters during dry-dock or pier-side maintenance.
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic logs for federal (EPA) and state environmental agency inspections.
  • Perform NACE/AMPP-standard inspections of surface preparation (SP-1 through SP-10) and coating thickness (DFT).
  • Ensure all work adheres to NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32 and related technical manuals (e.g., NSTM 631).
  • Investigate coating failures or premature corrosion, documenting environmental factors (humidity, dew point, surface temp) that contributed to the discrepancy.
  • Conduct chloride/salt contamination tests and profile depth measurements to ensure long-term substrate integrity.
