About The Position

Simmonds Precision is seeking an Environmental Qualification Engineer to support the qualification, testing, and production of aerospace products and systems. This hands-on engineering role is responsible for planning and supporting environmental testing, troubleshooting complex test and equipment issues, analyzing results, and driving problems to root cause and corrective action. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience working with aerospace or other highly regulated hardware, and the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other technical teams. This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with hardware and test equipment, and balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical discipline, with at least five years of relevant engineering or technical experience.
Demonstrated experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including the ability to systematically diagnose complex hardware or system-level problems.
Hands-on experience with the design, build, integration, testing, or troubleshooting of aerospace, military, or other highly regulated products and hardware.
Experience supporting engineering testing, qualification, product verification, or related laboratory activities.
Demonstrated ability to identify root cause, evaluate technical data, and develop or support corrective actions.
Ability to effectively communicate technical information, project status, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and technical documentation.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
Must be a U.S. Person or U.S. Permanent Resident ("Green Card" holder) as required for access to applicable controlled information or technology.

Nice To Haves

Experience with environmental qualification testing of aerospace or defense products.
Working knowledge of environmental test methods and standards, including RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.
Experience with environmental test equipment and systems used for thermal, vibration, ESS, HASS, or combined-environment testing.
Experience designing, modifying, or reviewing test fixtures and test setups.
Experience with CAD software and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Experience with National Instruments PXI hardware, automated test systems, data acquisition systems, or similar instrumentation.
Familiarity with avionics communication buses and interfaces.
Experience analyzing environmental test data and documenting test results, anomalies, and corrective actions.
Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to move between electrical, mechanical, test equipment, and system-level troubleshooting.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic engineering and manufacturing environment where priorities and program requirements may change.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and support environmental qualification testing for aerospace products, components, and systems.
Analyze and troubleshoot issues associated with environmental qualification, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) testing.
Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues to identify root cause and implement effective corrective actions.
Diagnose test setups, instrumentation, fixtures, and equipment to resolve test failures, anomalies, and equipment-related issues.
Partner with engineering teams to support the on-time planning and execution of qualification activities, including test preparation, execution, data review, and issue resolution.
Review test procedures, requirements, configurations, and results to understand technical implications and identify potential risks or areas requiring further investigation.
Plan and execute experiments and engineering evaluations to support qualification, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
Collect, analyze, organize, and maintain technical data, including laboratory results, environmental test data, engineering changes, and supporting documentation.
Support the development, modification, and improvement of environmental test fixtures, test setups, and associated equipment.
Provide engineering support to production environmental test processes, including troubleshooting recurring test issues and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
Clearly communicate technical issues, test results, risks, recommendations, and project status through written documentation, presentations, and verbal communication.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other technical teams to resolve issues and support program and production requirements.
Provide technical guidance, training, and work direction to technicians and technical support personnel as appropriate.
Manage multiple projects and technical priorities simultaneously, adapting effectively as business and program needs change.
Work independently on assigned technical challenges while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team.
