Requirements

  • One year of experience as a journey-level specialist in a waste management program
  • Two years of experience in environmental protection and a bachelor's degree with major course work in biology, chemistry, or in a field closely related to environmental protection
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Meet the PA residency requirement

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree with major course work in any of the fields closely related to environmental protection may be substituted for one year of the required experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage abandoned storage tank removal and remediation efforts and ensure proper field implementation
  • Review contractor documents, track project progress, and support legal staff with cost recovery efforts
  • Work with federal and local officials, attend public meetings, and provide program guidance to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Evaluate reports, assist with enforcement actions, and respond to public information inquiries regarding storage tanks
  • Enter and verify information in electronic systems, run PowerBI reports, and track project submissions and notifications
  • Conduct site inspections, collect environmental samples, and participate in spill investigations
