About The Position

JBW Federal, a subsidiary of the Kanaka Foundation, is seeking an Environmental Project Professional to support clients at an environmental remediation site in California. This role involves providing technical support, managing project documents, coordinating with stakeholders, and facilitating community relations. You will join a team of professionals dedicated to supporting Native Hawaiians through the Kanaka Foundation's mission.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, or engineering sciences.
  • 5 years of experience in managing and/or supporting an environmental restoration program.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Self-starter and problem solver.

  • Master's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Possession of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical review of and comments on CERCLA remediation project documents (prepared by others); facilitate comment resolution; and oversee the delivery and distribution of the documents.
  • Use existing site data and records to support document development.
  • Use knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, and standards and policies.
  • Provide technical support of environmental due diligence documents such as Environmental Condition of Property (ECP), Finding of Suitability to Transfer (FOST), and Covenant to Restrict Use of Property (CRUP); and work with the stakeholders to reach comment resolution and task completion.
  • Provide technical assistance to manage internal meetings and meetings with regulatory agencies.
  • Develop meeting agendas with input from the client and other project leaders; participate in meetings; develop or review meeting summaries; and document, identify and track action items.
  • Facilitate or support community outreach actions; coordinate project activities with local agencies and other stakeholders; provide technical support to community outreach events and associated preparatory meetings; review and comment on fact sheets, newsletters, and public notices; and develop responses to community comments on released documents and notices.
  • Align work activities appropriately with other related project aspects such as: munitions response and prescribed burn programs.
  • Prepare or review regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies.
  • Maintain organized records of comment resolution status, provide status updates, and track completion to client satisfaction.
  • Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. during work team meetings; ensure conformance with applicable technical standards and work plan requirements.
  • Collaborate with other team members.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate with community members.
  • Prepare and manage, scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Develop effective meeting agendas, produce meeting summaries, track action items and changes.
  • Anticipate client needs and identify solutions.
  • Utilize skills and knowledge to develop solutions to complex problems.
